The Quinoa I buy says to cook it using 3 parts water to 1 part Quinoa
I am currently cooking this for the first time. According to the directions 1 cup quinoa to 1 1/2 cup water simmered for 30 minutes…..but its been ten minutes and all the water is gone…….OH THEY LIED AT THE MARKET……adding half a cup more water. Thanks danispies!
You’re pretty cool, you seem very comfortable on camera and I found this video quite informative!
its really good, but i cant stand the smell, does anyone know a way to cook quinoa in a way where it doesnt smell or teast like it does?… let me know!
Just found this stuff today, looking up superfoods
Do you think you can cook it like a pilaf?
Wow. 11mac11s is that comment ever rude.
This video is great… thanks! I think organic sprouted quinoa is even tastier than the brands displayed! I just posted a bunch of international recipes on my blog if interested… (TasteItMyWay on Blogger) regards Chef, Gary
I tried a new quinoa recipe the other day. Basically you boil it with celery and carrots and fresh coriander, then serve it with a dressing made from olive oil, red wine vinegar, fenugreek sage salt and pepper. DELICIUOS!
good vid! very informative. good idea about keeping some as reserve for other meals and soups, etc.
I love quinoa. I always cook it with chicken broth instead of water, then put carrots cut into small pcs and then dried cranberries. Delicious…even my picky children love it.
Youre the best!
Quinoa is an Incan super grain originated from PERU, highly regarded in that culture for its nutritional benefits. Just a quick fact, Thanks
Thank you for this! Very helpful!
@danispies Its to bad we live in a stubborn brainwashed society that lives on Gluten, dairy, sugar and pharmaceutical positions.
@danispies Quinoa Gluten free supergrain! more americans should eat it, it would help with obesity crisis!
but 100 grams of quinoa is ALOT… people say it has a lot of protein but it doesnt hve more then couscous or any other thing.. that is so small
you can truly eat 100 gram of quinoa or any sort of small thing becuase when its cooked it BECOMES A LOT
unless you make it for different meals.. also these stuff is expensive atleast here i live.. its way more expensive then pasta which has fortified protien and more expensive then meat pr pound
Thanks! Definitely gonna go and pick up a box!
I’ve watched your spaghetti and butternut squash videos, and now this one. I can tell you, without a doubt, that you’re the best youtube video tutor on healthy foods. Thank you so much for helping me discover all these wonderful and nutritious meals!!
You don’t even have to cook it. Try Sprouting it. It is a very quick sprout! I sprout mine and make Tabouli out of it. Also, the red kind makes a nice Bell pepper stuffing.
IMPORTANT To maximize your nutritional intake from quinoa, as with all grains, nuts and legumes and especially if you are using it for holistic treatments, it needs to be soaked to reduce phytic acid. I can’t seem to add links to websites but just Google it for the whys and hows.
I’m going to embed this video in my blog! Super informative and full of personality!
@danispies I use the Inca Red for heavier tasting dishes (with spices like chili powder, ground cumin, cayenne pepper) and traditional quinoa with flavors like lemon, cucumber, basil, etc. I actually posted one of my favorite recipes on my blog: strawberries-and-tea.blogspot(dot)com/2011/08/quinoa-stuffed-pattypan(dot)html
@smylzk I think it’s Quechua.
